Our Mission Statement

The Ridge Meadows Education Foundation receives, generates and distributes resources to enhance the quality of education in School District #42 (Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows)

The Foundation has approximately $1.9M in assets which fund over 35 scholarships and a number of enhancements to student programs.

Guiding Principles

  • To encourage and promote planned giving and legacy donations
  • To safeguard and administer endowment funds for the purposes  to which they were intended
  • To establish and administer bursaries and scholarships
  • To provide funding to initiate, enrich and expand School District #42 programs
  • To provide opportunities for community partnerships and involvement

History

The Ridge Meadows Education Foundation was established by the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows Board of Education and is registered with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) as a “public foundation”.

The Foundation exists at arm’s length from the Board of Education with three directors appointed from the Board of Education and the remaining directors being appointed from the community at large

Granting and Opportunities

The Ridge Meadows Education Foundation works to co-ordinate fundraising initiatives for enhanced fine arts, sports and specialty programs in School District #42. The goal of the RMEF is to support the types of programs that encourage our youth to stay in school and experience a fuller, richer and more rounded education.  The RMEF also acts as a focal point to manage bursaries and scholarships for district students and granting opportunities.

Many bursary and scholarship awards received by students have been made possible through legacies established by people just like you. Families and individuals connected to a school or the community have used establishing a scholarship or bursary as a means of honouring someone in their life. If you would like to leave your own legacy, the Ridge Meadows Education Foundation manages many of these funds and can assist you.

For information on how you can leave your own legacy, make a donation, assist us in raising funds, or apply for a grant, please investigate the rest of our website, or email us at rmefinfo@gmail.com where your questions will be directed to the appropriate Board Member.

Grant & Scholarship Applications

Through its grants program, RMEF accepts grant applications from schools (teachers & principles), Parent Advisory Councils and education partners to provide funds for enhanced fine arts, sports and specialty programs that benefit students in School District 42.

The Ridge Meadows Education foundation will evaluate applications and award grants within the parameters of the available funds. Particular consideration is given to projects which:

  • Promote healthy living through sports, fitness and education programs.
  • Enhance fine arts and cultural programs.
  • Promote specialty programs that benefit students within School District #42.

Testimonials

“Being awarded the Gary and Nanette Lycan Scholarship has been a tremendous honor but also an essential support in my academic journey.  Receiving an offer to attend university across the country brought with it significant worries about the financial costs of being far from home. However, this scholarship has helped cover the cost of textbooks, tuition, and other essential expenses, alleviating a major financial burden and allowing me to focus on my studies and work hard towards my goals while attending my dream university. I am incredibly grateful for this scholarship, which has strengthened my commitment to education and shaping my future professional journey.”

Maple Ridge Elementary:

“The sensory items are so helpful for individual students, but also for the greater school community” -Gr. 4 teacher

“It helps to have a calm down room available to share with other students who need it.  It’s a great space for many kids” -Education Assistant

“Thank you once again for your generous contribution to our school community. We are truly grateful for your commitment to improving the lives of our students and helping us create a positive and nurturing environment.”- Chelsea Lendvoy, Principal

Alexander Robinson Elementary School has been ‘making due’, ‘borrowing’ and ‘scrounging’ theatre equipment where we can. It takes a true community of people to come together and support us with lighting and sound equipment when we want to produce a show. This grant has been life-changing for our drama program. Now that we have easily accessible supplies to support our learning, the options are limitless for the kinds of art our students can be exposed to. Thanks to the generous grant we are able to purchase new speakers for future plays and productions. The students and staff are forever grateful. -Mathea Diamond
“Surprised at the how the garden project drew out students I never thought would participate.” -Highland Park Teacher
“I go into the den every morning as it helps me have a calm start to my day.” Blue Mountain Student
