Submission deadline for Grants is February 28 (unless it is a leap year, then it will be February 29).
If you are an SD42 school principal, teacher or parent advisory council, you are eligible to apply for a grant from the Ridge Meadows Education Foundation.
New Scholarship Fund!
The Ridge Meadows Education Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of the Gary and Nanette Lycan Scholarship Fund!
The Chair of the Ridge Meadows Education Foundation, Dr. Dave Rempel, is pleased to announce the Foundation has received a major contribution in the form of a $1,000,000 endowment to establish the Gary and Nanette Lycan Scholarship Fund.
The scholarship will be available to a deserving graduate starting with the 2022 graduating year and will be listed in the School District Scholarship and Bursary information booklet available to students through the school district.
The Ridge Meadows Education Foundation is extremely grateful for the support of Mr. Gary Lycan in our quest to support education in School District 42 and wishes deserving students the best of luck.

Awards
Newcomer Bursary – New as of 2023
Purpose: To provide an annual $1,000 bursary for a graduate of SD 42 with a preference given to refugees or first or second generation immigrants who show financial need.
Jim Longridge Justice Scholarship–in honour of Jassi Sidhu–New as of 2021
Purpose: To provide an annual $1,000 scholarship for a graduate of SD 42 who is planning to earn a degree in the field of criminology/justice.
Doreen Conant Memorial Scholarship
Purpose: To provide an annual $1000 scholarship for a graduate of SD 42 who is planning to earn a teaching degree.
H.L. Draper Scholarship Fund
Purpose: To provide two $1000 scholarships each year to Maple Ridge Secondary graduates until all the funds have been disbursed.
Grant De Patie Memorial Endowment Fund
Purpose: Honouring the Memory of Grant De Patie. To provide up to two annual bursaries of up to $1000 each for graduates of Garibaldi Secondary and Thomas Haney Secondary.
Leo and Dot Desjardins Award of Merit Endowment Fund
Purpose: The interest earnings from the endowment to provide an award to the top graduating Shop student from Maple Ridge Secondary.
Education Dream Endowment Fund
Purpose:
- To provide academic bursaries to goal-oriented students;
- To provide a bursary to a student working towards a teaching of PE degree;
- To support early literacy programs up to $2000 per year;
- To help the district to supply instruments to students wishing to take band;
- To help fund professional performing groups to visit school.
Wes Durksen Memorial Scholarship
Purpose:
- planning to be a teacher or work with children
- has reputation of helping others;
- has overcome a challenges
- has been a long time SD 42 student;
- has a strong background in music or sports;
- is planning on attending a post secondary institution.
Keane Huazer Scholarship Fund
Purpose: To provide an annual $500 scholarship for a graduate of SD 42 going on to study Carpentry at BCIT.
Thelma Greenwell Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund
Purpose: To provide an annual $500 scholarship to a SD 42 graduate who is pursuing studies in home economics, culinary arts, food technology, dietetics, fashion design or early childhood education.
Kendra Harris Memorial Scholarship Fund
Purpose: Provide $500 scholarship to a graduate of Pitt Meadows Secondary who has the highest mark in Accounting 12.
Fraser Regional Correction Centre Fund
Purpose: To provide an annual $1000 scholarship to a Maple Ridge Resident Graduate who plans on attending post-secondary studies in Criminal Justice. Financial Need to be given consideration.
Tenho Katainen Memorial
Purpose: To provide scholarships to graduates of SD 42 who achieved high performance in athletics as well as demonstrating leadership, work ethic, teamwork and inspiration to others.
Nicki Maceachern Memorial Bursary
Purpose: To provide an annual $500 bursary to a graduate who is planning on a career in early childhood education, has overcome a significant obstacle and requires financial assistance.
Danielle O’Gorman Award Fund
Purpose: To award an annual $500 scholarship to a THSS graduate in the Equestrian Academy who plans to pursue a career in equestrian education.
Charles Martz Memorial Scholarship Fund
Purpose: To provide an annual $500 scholarship for an SD 42 graduate from Arthur Peake planning on a career in health care. Academic performance and financial need to be considered.
Louise Poole Poetry Fund
Purpose: To encourage students of Maple Ridge Secondary to write poetry.
Merv Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund
Purpose: To provide two scholarships annually, one $700 and one $600. All SD 42 graduates are eligible but there must be evidence of high achievement in mathematics and science.
Colin Wyllie Memorial Scholarship Fund
Purpose: To provide an annual scholarship of $500.
